If you're like me, you understand the value of taking your kids outdoors (and not just letting them tear up your house). Going out often does start to add up, so here's my compilation of ways the most cost effective ways to have a great time hanging out with your babes.
1. If you haven't already heard, there's a program called Museums for All which provides free or reduced admission for people on EBT (SNAP Benefits). Some museums also include WIC recipients.
One of our favorites that honors this program is the Brooklyn Children's Museum.

The Children's Museum has tons of exhibits that she loves. We always spend more time than we intend. On weekends, they sometimes host events on the roof, and we've seen free concerts, skits, story book times, iceskating and more! There was even a rooftop bar in the summer. In the Wintertime, it's a great, FREE place to hang out, if you qualify.
*BCM provides free and discounted general admission tickets to a number of community and corporate partners, including the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM), the Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC), Cool Culture, Culture Pass, EBT/SNAP cardholders, healthcare workers, NYPD, FDNY, Blue Star Families, teachers, and employees of businesses that support BCM
2. We had never been to the NY Aquarium until recently, and I am so glad that we did! If you haven't already, go down and check it out. It's so cool, and there's full Shark Experiences, Immersive Exhibits, and Performances! And all completely FREE! You can reserve tickets here for Wednesdays after 3 PM when the aquarium is free. You do need to reserve tickets in advance. It's a great space for kids to explore and get all of that energy out. Highly recommend. The boardwalk is also right outside of the aquarium, and you would be amiss not to walk it at sunset after the Aquarium closes @4:30.
